About Us

Military Edge is an online publication intended to be a central point of information, news, and knowledge to benefit all members of the military community. Our mission is to give active duty, guard/reserve, military families, veterans, and those who are planning to serve, the intel they need to be successful in their lives and careers.

Mike Ball, editor-in-chief, is a 24-year military veteran. Mike joined the Marines on his 18th birthday in 1989, and served for four years as a Korean linguist (read: drove a 5-ton truck around Oahu…). After the Marines, he travelled the world a while, eventually ending up back in Hawaii, where he joined the National Guard as a medic.

Over the next six years he bounced around to a few different guard and reserve units in Hawaii, before returning to active duty in the Air Force. He deployed on aeromedical evacuation teams in Iraq and Afghanistan, served as a medic on a Provincial Reconstruction Team in Afghanistan, and was the NCOIC of the Aeromedical Staging Facility at Ramstein Air Base Germany, before retiring as the Flight Chief of the Critical Care Department at Walter Reed Military Medical center, Bethesda.

He has spent the last 14 years of his life (literally) carrying his brothers and sisters in arms home from combat zones. He feels a deep sense of duty to do what he can to continue to help my fellow veterans, and all current, former, and future members of the U.S. Military community.

This is where Military Edge comes into play. The hope for Military Edge is for it to become a resource for those who make the ultimate sacrifice, as well as their families.

The information, news and ideas published here will give all members of this community  the edge they need to be successful in their military careers and beyond.
